Volunteer

Volunteers are at the center of the Visiting Nurse Association & VNA Hospice. More than 300 dedicated individuals generously donate their time, serving in capacities ranging from board members to Camp Chrysalis buddies to patient and family support. All volunteers undergo extensive training enabling them to work with sensitivity and discretion.

Patient/Family Volunteers
Provide physical, emotional and spiritual support in homes throughout Indian River County as well as in area hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and at the VNA Hospice House – they offer respite care, help run errands, provide transportation or just visit with patients and families.

11th Hour Volunteers

Hospice House Volunteers
Volunteer roles at the VNA Hospice House include serving as patient companions and family liaisons as well as assisting with kitchen duties, administrative support, gardening, entertainment or transportation.

Careline Volunteers
A group of volunteers who are assigned to a caregiver and make frequent telephone calls to offer emotional assistance and practical suggestions.

Office Volunteers
Volunteers who help VNA staff with clerical duties including filing, copying, bulk mailings or data entry.

VNA Hidden Treasures Volunteers
Volunteers who work at our retail boutique assist with merchandising and the day-to-day operations of the shop.

Volunteers may also assist at VNA events throughout the community including health fairs, screenings, flu shot clinics or special events.

Men, women and teens who wish to volunteer must have time, patience, energy, warmth, good health and compassion. For more information about VNA volunteer opportunities, contact Tracey Soethe at 772.978.5553.
